Highlights

5 December: Villa Zarri and Villa Salina, Castel Maggiore
Acquired by the illustrious scientist Marcello Malpighi in 1682, Villa Salina was subsequently ceded to Giovanni Antonio Salina in 1762, when the superb ceiling in the entrance loggia on the ground floor was completed.  The Salinas enlarged the villa with lateral wings and expanded the splendid park with rare plants and massive trees, including a monumental oak tree whose trunk is over 5 metres in circumference.
Formerly a stately home and literary coterie, Villa Zarri, a beautiful 16th-century building, has been controlled by the Angelelli family for centuries, as shown by an old drawing. At the end of the eighteenth century, it took on its current architectural layout with a rich and elegant round tympanum on the façade and a magnificent centuries-old park. A long-standing distillery of a world-famous brandy, the villa also houses a Michelin-starred restaurant.

12 December: Palazzo Comelli, Ca' Melati, Camugnano
Palazzo Comelli is located in close proximity to Bargi, a historic village in the heart of the Suviana and Brasimone Lakes Park. The complex features a series of buildings interspersed with internal courtyards in a charming setting. The Comelli family's historical archives, the small Oratory of Santa Maria in Porcole and the sundial are truly worthy of note, not forgetting the wonderful view over Lake Suviana and the surrounding woods.

19 December: Bishop's Palace, Imola

The Bishop's Palace in Imola stands opposite the entrance to the Cathedral. It was built in the 12th century and subsequently enlarged in the 15th and 16th centuries, with its current appearance being due to major renovations carried out in the second half of the 18th century by Cosimo Morelli. The visit includes the palace's rooms , now hosting the Diocesan Museum and the Carriage Museum, as well as the building's historic garden, reopened in 2021 after a long renovation process.
The experience will be completed by a little guided tour in the city center, to see from the outside the Cathedral and other historical buildings.
